The Mitchellville Police Department has an opening for a full-time police officer.  The successful candidate must meet all applicable standards set forth by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

ILEA | Iowa Law Enforcement Academy

Mitchellville is a community of approximately 2500 persons in Polk County, Iowa.  The police department consists of three full-time, four part-time, and eight reserve officers.  The salary for this position is graduated through the training process.  Certified officers will start at $27.30 per hour, and non-certified officers will achieve this pay rate upon completion of ILEA and field training.

This position will be primarily 10-hour evening shifts with a four-day weekend every other week.  Community growth is anticipated to drive department expansion within the next year, and it is anticipated we will be moving to a 12-hour shift with three-day weekends every other week.

The hiring process will involve a physical agility test here locally in October, with POST and MMPI-II testing at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on a Tuesday in November.  We look to have our selected candidate start in early January.

Applications can be downloaded from www.Mitchellville.org website and emailed to matthew.covey@mitchellville.org.
