Agenda’s
May 18, 2022
This board can assess a tree in any public right-of-way or on any City property at your request. Please fill out the Citizen Report and turn that in at City Hall or email it to Rahni Brose and she will get it to the board members, once a decision is made she will let you know via email.
Every Spring City employees will go around and do a survey of all trees in the City right-of-way. Some of the things they look for are height over the street – must be at least 15 feet above the surface of the road, height over sidewalks – must be at least 8 feet above the sidewalks, damages to trees – if a tree is found to be dead or diseased the City will remove that tree, when applicable the City will give a 10-day notice. It is the abutting property owner’s responsibility to ensure that trees in the right-of-way are maintained. A letter will be sent to any property owner who violates any of the Tree Codes
In 2018 a Tree Survey done by the DNR at this time they gave a plan that this board is now looking at finishing, lots of tree work has been done over the past few years and there is still more yet to come!
If you are looking at adding trees to your yard please remember to check out this guide: Selecting Trees for your Yard. You are welcome to plant trees responsibly outside of the City right-of-way, which is the area where a sidewalk is or should be, to the road.
